It's Finally Here

My baby boy is turning two years old today! I still remember the moment he was born. I got a chance to say hello before he was whisked away to the NICU doctors. It was almost three hours later before I got to hold him in my arms. I remember it as though it was yesterday. We bonded throughout our week in the hospital and by the time we got home I was head over heels in love.

Coming home day...Mom is not looking the greatest!
Already saying "No more pictures please." Poor child...he has only known life with a flash!

When I first found out I was having a boy, I was shocked to put it mildly. Now I think back and wonder what I was thinking...he's the most amazing child!

Last night I asked him how old he was. We've been practicing all week saying "I'm one" but soon I'll be "two!" So I grabbed the video camera and decided to catch it on camera one last time...here is what happened!

It's official. He is two and he definitely knows it. This weekend we are having a very big celebration. All things ELMO, including the big guy himself. I can't wait to post the pictures!

I Cannot Believe It

In just three more days (almost two since it's close to midnight while I'm writing this) Tyler will turn 2. I'm not sure where the last two years have gone. I was recently looking back at my first few blog posts and it seems so long ago. Some of the posts I don't even remember! I must be getting old and forgetting my memory already. Or maybe it was the fact that I was feeding every couple of hours and didn't sleep for more than 3 hours at a time, right?

So it is Monday night before he turns two. I can't help but think back on these last two years. In the last few weeks it seems as though he has become such a big boy. He's saying things like "thanks Mom" and "I love you" and "carry me please" and "I want to go." He has four, yes FOUR, baby dolls now that must go just about every where with us. One is new and still doesn't have a name, but each morning I'm greeted by a "Hi Mom" in the sweetest voice, followed by a barrage of babies flying over the crib and loud giggles as it is happening. We then line those babies up on the changing table. I get my morning hug and kiss and then it's to the diaper change. The day continues with the babies going everywhere...up stairs, down stairs, in the car, outside, on the walk. He just loves those little babies so much. I know someday he'll make a great big brother!

I'm just amazed at all of the changes. As these last few days of him being a one year old wind down, I'm reminded how blessed we are to have such a beautiful, healthy (minus the gazillion ear infections...we are one number 5 - I think - right now) boy we have!

Charlotte Diamond Concert

One of my favorite children's singer is Charlotte Diamond. Each March she visits Southern California and does a week of concerts. This year (like many in the past) the concert was the week of Tyler's birthday. I gathered some friends and we decided to check it out!

The concert was held at CSUN. We got there early enough but they overbooked the show so our group of 11 ended up having to sit all over the theater. Definitely a big bummer! In the end I think everyone had fun anyway. Grandma Judy joined us. Tyler loved having her there with us as we danced, clapped and wiggled our way through the concert.

Not a good picture of  Tyler or Liz, but you can see how close we were to the stage

After the concert we grabbed some lunch and then it was time to visit the doctor. Tyler hadn't been feeling well and with his birthday coming up I wanted to make sure everything was alright. He fell asleep on the way to the doctor with his baby in his arms! So darn cute he is!!!
The appointment proved that the mommy always knows...yet ANOTHER ear infection. Hopefully the medicine will make him feel much better by his birthday on Thursday!

Tyler's Newest Baby Doll

Around Christmas Tyler got his first baby doll. It was a cheap little bean bag doll from Walmart that he found in Tulare. We now affectionately call him Larry. Well, the other day Larry went missing. Luckily I found another Larry when I was in Pocatello, Id (yes, they are that hard to find). So I pulled out the missing one. It took two days before we found the original Larry. In the meantime, I found a new doll that I was hoping Tyler might like.

We gave it to him about a week before his birthday. It was love at first sight. The baby is now affectionately called Blue. (We have two Blues now.) He will make such a great big brother to a little baby. He just loves them so much!

First Hockey Game

Collin's office has two seats to all Clippers, Lakers, and Kings games at the Staples Center. He had two tickets the Kings vs. Canucks game on March 5. Since it was a Saturday day time game I thought it would be fun for all three of us to go. Tyler took a long nap in the morning but as soon as he woke up we headed downtown. We parked and got to the game just as the second period was starting. Tyler was a little overwhelmed and wouldn't leave my lap. He didn't want to eat any thing. He was mesmerized by the whole thing.

When the period ended, Tyler and Daddy headed up to the concession stand to get some popcorn. By the time they got back and the third period started, Tyler was in love. He began clapping, cheering and jumping every time the crowd reacted. The Kings lost in the last two minutes but the experience was fantastic! We have a hockey fan on our hands now!
