First Hair Cut

We decided that it was finally time for Tyler to have his first hair cut. We read some reviews and talked to some friends and decided on a children's salon. We met Collin at the train station and then headed to Kids Cuts and Waves. Tyler picked out a red jeep and was happy to sit as long as I held his hand.

We were introduced to Amy and Tyler put the smock on without crying. YEAH! So far, so good!
Amy then sprayed his head and combed out his hair. We discussed they type of cut we wanted...just a little shaping but not too short! And away she went!
He sat the whole time holding my hand as Amy snipped away!
In the end he looked SO grown up. Our first hair cut was a big success. No more curly wings flying out over his ears. The curls are still there but it just looks a little cleaner now.
So handsome! Thank you Amy!

Here it all is in video format!

Love

Ok, so I am not exactly what you would call a prolific blogger; in fact although Erin set up my account to post on the blog long ago, I think this might be my first post! Not that I haven't wanted to, but with family and work stuff, I guess I just get busy.

Yesterday was a pretty rough day for me, work was hectic and I have a cold and was feeling overall miserable. Erin and Tyler and I had dinner and because I got home late, bedtime for Tyler wasn't too far behind. I asked Erin if she would get Tyler ready for bed while I took a hot shower. When I got done, story time was already over and the lights were out and Tyler and Erin were snuggling in his chair before she put him in his crib. I came in and sat down to say goodnight. When I did, Tyler took the bottle out of his mouth and looked at me and said "I LOVE YOU". He did it without me saying it first and did it for the first time saying all three words (He usually just says I love). Being the macho guy I am, I immediately teared up and said I love you too. When we were done saying goodnight, I shut the door and as I was walking down the hall from his room, somehow I immediately forgot about my bad day. I am so lucky to have such a wonderful family, I thank God everyday.

Surprise!

My mom's birthday fell on a Friday this year. I have not been home for her birthday in a very long time. This year I decided it would be fun to surprise her. I got my sisters and dad to help us plan everything. It was only two or three days before her birthday that I realized it was her 60th birthday. Here I was just planning to surprise her because it was her birthday, not because it was a big one! Yeah for me for not being on top of it, eh!

Collin was able to take the day off and we took a very early morning flight up to Sacramento on Friday. My dad picked us up at the airport and we headed to the Sacramento Zoo. Meanwhile, Katie (my sister) had asked my mom to go to the zoo with her and the kids. When my mom met Katie, she was surprised to see Katie's husband, Matt, there and my other sister, Emily. She was excited. Little did she know what was waiting just inside the gate.

Tyler played his part perfectly...just watch!

My mom was so thrilled. We spent the morning at the zoo.

Off they go!
Then we headed to a Mexican restaurant for a delicious lunch. The afternoon was pretty quiet. My sisters would head back to my parents in the early evening for a P.F. Chang's dinner. My mom was calm and just thrilled that the surprises were over....so she thought! She opened one present before dinner.
Ready to join the Red Hat Club!

Around 6pm there was a knock at the door and 6 of my parents closest friends were there. The evening was fantastic. There was lots of laughs, a wonderful cake, and then a beautiful birthday necklace surprise to top off the night.

The pink sapphire necklace matches the pink sapphire ring my dad got her for his retirement party last year!
We spent the rest of the weekend just hanging out. My mom had no clue we were coming and was thrilled (I think) to have us there. It was a great celebration of a wonderful mom, friend, wife, and woman!

Tyler was a trooper traveling home. He loved pulling Daddy's suitcase and looked like such a big boy doing so! It was his last free trip of his life!!! What a fun trip!
Kissing Granpa and Grammy good bye

Off he goes

On the shuttle bus to the car...a long day!

Soooo tired and in need of a hair cut!
