Cement Slides

Growing up in Roseville we used to go to this park that had cement slides built into the side of a hill. I remember how much fun we used to have. Since Tyler LOVES slides I thought he might enjoy this too. We are usually so busy when we visit my family that we haven't had time to go. This time I carved out time on Sunday morning to check them out.

We had brought wax paper with us since that's what we used to use. By the time we got to the bottom once the paper was gone. This wasn't going to work. Luckily for us people had left their cardboard behind so we used some of that. We got Grandpa and Grammy to go down too. It took Grammy a while to do it but once she started she didn't want to stop...just like the rest of us!

When we had enough of the slides we went up to the little playground where Tyler just had so much fun going on the slides, the swings and running around!

23 Months Old

Well it is really happening...we are entering our last month of having a one year old in the house. I cannot believe that in one month our baby boy will be two years old. TWO YEARS OLD?!? How did this happen so quickly? I'm so lucky to have a little one who loves us so much and that brings us so much joy.

I'm Bacon

A long time running joke has been that Collin always makes a lot of bacon whenever my parents are around. For Christmas I got him his very own plush talking bacon that says "I'm bacon" when you press it. Tyler just loves the bacon!

The ohter day Tyler wanted me to play outside with him. I told him he needed to wait just a few minutes because I was baking a cake. He ran over to the high chair and pointed at the bacon plush and said "I'm  bacon, I'm bacon." I was a little confused for a second and then realized...I told him I was baking and thought I was bacon! So cute!!! He pressed the button on Mr. Bacon and then wanted to play. I quickly threw my stuff in the oven and we went outside to play. Afterall, we'd heard from Mr. Bacon and now it was time to play!

Taking Daddy to the Zoo

It was a three day weekend and the weather was absolutely gorgeous so we decided it was time to take Daddy to the zoo. He had never been to the Los Angeles Zoo with us, so it was to be a great adventure to share! We invited our friends, the Simcox family, to join us! We had lots of fun looking at animals, eating lunch and running around the exhibits together. It was crowded that day, but still a nice day at the zoo.

Poor Little Guy

So Tyler was sick for over a week with the Noro virus. Apparently it's going around. If you think you are getting it, RUN, RUN, RUN! It's very nasty! He was a brave boy in the ER getting his IV and with the radiologist while getting scans on his stomach. All week he has been very clingy, sleepy and a little lovey. We took a couple of pictures that seemed to capture this last week.

The first is of Tyler and Daddy cuddling with Mongo. We had a LOT of Sesame Street, Martha Speaks and Baby Signing Time.

This next is of Tyler with his nose smashed into the railing of his crib. He usually has a bumper but I cannot keep up with laundry. I had to change the sheets four times in one afternoon...I'm almost out of detergent! I figured it is SUCH a pain to change the sheets and remove the bumper, I'm just not putting it on again until this illness is completely gone. Hopefully that will be this weekend!

Worst Feeling

I had the opportunity to work for two days in Idaho this week. I had babysitters lined up for the three days I'd be gone. After a day of being from home, I missed my family soo much! Today was my last day and I woke up to the alarm. I had another restless night's sleep but only had to work for about 4 hours so I knew I could make it. I didn't expect to get the call I did at 6:15 am...Tyler and Daddy were at the ER. Tyler had been throwing up all night and when Daddy called the pediatrician, he said to go. Can I tell you what a helpless feeling it is to be hours and hours away from your little one when they are sick? The ER took very good care of him. He was brave and didn't even flinch when they put in the IV to get some fluids in to him. Both nurses couldn't believe how good he was. That's my little boy - such a brave boy!

I quickly got ready and had to prepare myself for a day of training. It was not easy. I kept my cell phone on and took a couple of calls during the training, which the participants were very kind about! One even offered me her shoulder to cry on! I did that in the shower and will probably do it again tonight once I hold him in my arms.

They ran a couple of tests and everything came back fine. I have this feeling that I caused this because I'm gone and this is the longest we have been separated. Everyone tells me I'm crazy, but I can't help feeling like this.

So here I sit in Denver. I begged my way onto an earlier flight from Idaho Falls and am waiting for the next LA bound flight. I missed the last one by about 3 minutes! UGH!

I don't think I'll be traveling much for a while...at least not until I'm over this scare. Good thing they are so resilient...and thank you Tyler, for the new gray hairs! I'd missed them since I just got them all colored!

Caught By Surprise...More Teeth

About ten days ago we had a really rough night. Tyler was up most of the night and had a fever. He'd had a fever for a few days and since it was a Friday, I decided to take him to the doctor. I don't want to be one of those moms that goes to the doctor every time he coughs or sneezes, but he never has nights like these so I figured it was an ear infection. The right ear was clear, but not the left ear...another ear infection. Big bummer! We started the antibiotics and all the fun side effects that happen to Tyler happened for the next ten days. Today, while waiting to order lunch, he was chewing on his finger. I asked if I could look in his mouth for a second. What do I see when I look in? Not one, but TWO new molars that are half way through!!!

Just about two weeks ago I checked specifically for new teeth since he's first sixteen came in really early. There was nothing there. I couldn't even see the white under the skin, nor could I feel anything so I figured it would still be a while until they came. My guess is I was wrong. I think these teeth came sometime in the last ten days. I'm bummed I didn't check every day so I don't know exactly when they arrived, but we now have teeth 17 and 18. Two more to go! I'm guessing those will be here soon, although as of today you couldn't feel or see them. But we now know how that goes...

Hurray for teeth 17 and 18! Our two year old molars coming in at 22 months...so typical of my little boy Tyler!

The Sweetest Words

I'm not sure why I didn't document this sooner, but I'm finally hearing Tyler share some of the sweetest words ever..."I love"! He is so cute when he says it to me or Collin. He just has this little sweet voice and says it with such conviction. Today he was also saying it to his baby, without prompting from me! I just love my little guy! I Love!

Enjoying the show

Tyler has really gotten into his Baby Signing Time videos. He loves them and asks to watch them all the time. We can all repeat the videos word for word and song for song. With time he has learned just about all of the words and can sign a TON of words. He loves to say them as he signs so I have no fear about him developing his spoken language!

The newest way to watch the videos however, is to do so with all of his friends as if they are all attending a show.

I just love my little boy! He brings such joy to our lives and we are SO blessed!

Snow Day In Santa Clarita

Sunday, January 2, started as a fine day. It was a little chilly outside but the skies were blue. By about 1 pm that all changed and the rain started. By 1:45, the rain was no longer rain but rather it was SNOW! Snow in Santa Clarita? It doesn't snow here very often...once since I've been here in four years and before that it had been about 21 years since it snowed here. It snowed and snowed all afternoon. By the night time we had a good inch covering everything, including our television dish which meant we had no television all evening.

Tyler had never experienced real snow. A few weeks ago he saw the artificial snow at the mall's snow day, but this time it was the real stuff from Mother Nature! He was a little timid at first but loved being outside in it as long as he was in someone's arms! I think we will definitely need to take him to the snow this winter and let him do a little sledding! I think he'd love it!

Ready to go play!

Here are some pictures of our house and the snow!
